But they’ve decided to put their party days behind them… a little less Leia in the metal bikini, and a little more Leia in a respectable, confortable all cotton pantsuit. There are some sad people out there i can imagine. The E3 people announced last week that gone are the days of the massive bright and shinning showroom style event, full of free useless landfill (swag), large breasted women sporting logos for whoever and whatever, and mega screens blasting out demos for all the mega games coming out… sometime.
You know i’ve never been to E3, but this is what i can tell from all the coverage of last years event… If i wasn’t stuck in Vermont, i might not sound so spitefull.
Either way, E3 issued a press release stating:
“to better address the needs of today’s global computer and video game industry, the 2007 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3Expo) is evolving into a more intimate event focused on targeted, personalized meetings and activities.” … “It is no longer necessary or efficient to have a single industry ‘mega-show.’ By refocusing on a highly-targeted event, we think we can do a better job serving our members and the industry as a whole, and our members are energized about creating this new E3,”
Looks to me like they’re trying to put a more mature face on the whole event, save some money and be more exacting on who gets to see what first… wonderfull. maybe Wired will hire me for color commentary for next year. Yay for progress!


My friends Athena and Andrea hosted a retrogaming party tonight down at my old studio space on Pine street; I got the word about it from Todd at work and spent the rest of the day excitedly waiting to head down. It’s been a while since i’ve done much console gaming, let alone nintendo, genesis or *gasp* Atari…
