We’ve all heard the arguement; to much emphasis on visuals, not enough on gameplay and immersion. I for one, am constantly concerned with this trend towards the flashy vacant, and i look forward to seeing what Nintendo’s Wii has in store. But those who opted for the X360, what of their plight?
Well, one possibility may be the upcoming “Bullet Witch” by Japan’s Cavia; you control a witch, third person, who uses…well, bullets. And magic. All that’s available currently for info is their website and a downloadable gameplay video you can find almost anywhere, that looks promising (here’s the youtube.) While at first it appears to be a laura croftesque third person shoot em up, with average character animation and what looks like substandard enemy AI - I also notice there is some excellent physics, amazing magic effects, explosive particle effects, and from the fan groups i’ve been trolling around in, and the brief cinematic intro, a very worthwhile story. Could be worth checking out, we’ll know soon enough.
