GameDaily Biz is featuring an article on “How to Become a Better Videogame Journalist” - what they shoud have called it is “How to better remove all your free time, stay up way to late reading about CMI then playing CMI, and be extremely late for work the next day, you chump.” But that’d be too long a digg subject. I guess it’s good as it is.
The article goes on to make some fairly obvious observations, keeping in line with most of the List nonsense that seems to populate the agregators these days. “The top 10 top 10s about top 10’s about navel lint and it’s many shapes and colors.” such as:
Take a writing class: If you’re truly desperate for help, it might be a good idea to take classes in journalism and/or creative writing. At the very least (in theory), you’ll have the opportunity to get advice from a true expert (all bets are off with adjunct professors).

Otherwise the article reads well, albeit smug - spending the last page going into detail on how to avoid having sex with all the many people you may cross paths with as a high falootin’ videogame journalist, after of course, the “ego check” bit about keeping it real and taking the time to hang with the great unwashed masses (aka, unpaid gamer/journalists). Hmm… no ego there.
Either way, it’s an interesting read, if only to get a sense of the emptyness that lies behind the bloodshot eyes of the modern “Videogame Journalist”. Be afraid, be very, whatever.
